Kangaroo Valley to Batemans Bay

Well after a nice few days at Kangaroo Valley we headed off over the hills and down the road towards Batemans Bay.  It wasn’t a very long drive but the hills make it interesting driving with 3 tonnes behind you trying to either hold you back or push you down at every climb and descent.  We did have a visit from Jade, Gordo, Declan and Lachlan in Kangaroo Valley which was a nice surprise as they were there for the day on Sunday to look at a camper trailer which they ended up buying.

We stayed about 8 kilometres out of Batemans Bay at a place called South Durass.  The caravan park was called Murramarang Beachfront Holiday Park and is in the National Park of the same name.  It was right on the beachfront and very quiet.  There was also lots of wildlife in the park that came around your vans each night eating the grass.  The kangaroos are that used to people that they do come right up to your table looking for food.  They let you pat them as well but they had a lot of ticks on them so we didn’t get that friendly with them.

Jade and the kids came over to join us for 4 days in their new camper during our 10 day stay at Murramarang.  It was interesting setting up the camper as we had never done one before but we did manage to get it ready a little bit before dark so we considered that a success and well worth a few wines

We did a day trip to Kiama so Jade and the kids could catch up with some relatives.  It wasn’t a long drive on the map but it took us over two hours to get there with the roads and traffic which we didn’t think would be a problem, all the wiser for next time.  Kiama was q1uite a nice place and the waterfront was very pleasant and we had a nice picnic lunch with the kids.

After Jade and the kids left us and we had successfully packed up the camper we sat back and recovered from full on kids.  Kaye survived pretty well but I was pretty wrecked and had to lie around for a day to get back to normal.

There were some pretty good walks from the caravan park either along the beach or along some tracks leading from the park.  We also got the bikes down again a did a few rides along some of the dirt roads.  The bush around this area was quite unique and worth looking at.

One great little walk was the Twisted Forest walk.  It wasn’t very long but the shape of the trees were what made the walk what it was.  Not sure what causes the trees to grow this way but the effect is striking.

Well after 10 relaxing days at Murramarang and ten days of dodging roo poo, duck poo and rabbit poo all over the place it is time to pack up and head towards Canberra where we are planning to stay for 4 weeks over Christmas.  We will be staying at Jade and Gordo’s house.  Apparently they are in a cul-de-sac and every house has Christmas lights so we are looking forward to seeing it.

As we will be in Canberra for a few weeks the next update wont be until 2016 so if there is anyone reading this then we hope you all have a great Christmas and 2016.  Cheers for now……..
