Canberra – Perth – Canberra

Well here is hoping that everyone has had a great Christmas and 2017 is starting out as everyone has hoped for.  Its seems like an age ago since we have completed an update for the blog.  After unhitching the van at Jade and Gordo’s and saying a quick hello for a couple of days it was on the plane and back to WA for four weeks over the Christmas and New Year holidays.  We were both looking forward to coming back home for a while, as it has been 18 months on the road travelling around this fantastic place called Australia and we were both looking forward to seeing family and friends again.

We didn’t have much planned when we got back to Perth but it is surprising how quickly time seems to go and your days are filled up.  It was good to catch up with a few friends but also disappointing that we couldn’t catch up with everyone that we wanted to.  Even in retirement there are not enough hours in the day or days in the week.

Jade and the boys arrived in Perth a week after us and then it was all in at Anika’s house and to make it all the better for her we had nominated Anika to host the family Christmas at her house.  With everyone pitching in and bringing some food it was a bit of a doddle really and good practise for Anika in the future.  Christmas eve was even more special when the secret camera we set up caught the big fellow dressed in red delivering the presents and eating the food that Declan and Lachlan had put out the night before.  They were pretty happy to see the pictures that our secret camera took.

What Santa left behind – quite a pile of presents

The early start we thought we would have on Christmas Day wasn’t to be.  Both Declan and Lachlan woke up a bit later that we thought they would so we were the first ones up and had to wait a little while till the others woke.  Once everyone was up then the excitement started to get more and more as Declan and Lachlan started to open all their presents, and boy did they have some presents.

All the family started arriving from around 1100 am and the festivities could really begin.  There was around 15 of us for lunch, a nice round number not to big and easy to cater for.  We had a secret Santa with everyone so that was a bit of fun to start the day off with and then it was all in for lunch.

Love all around

We had a great four weeks back in WA and were both ready to come back to the caravan when our time was up.  We have both got used to living in the caravan and were starting to miss it a bit.  Anika will also be glad to have her house back to normal again after having five of us there for a few weeks.

We are not sure when the next blog update will be as it is going international.  We are off on an 84 day boat cruise that goes around South America.  We sail out of Sydney on Wednesday 11trh January and return early in April.  We will have to see how we go doing the blog on the ship, truly a momentous moment in my blogging career.  So until next time hope 2017 is a great year for each and everyone as it is starting out pretty good for us so far…………….
